The St. David’s School of Nursing utilizes a holistic admission process that considers the unique experiences, achievements, and strengths each applicant brings to the profession. While not required, applicants are strongly encouraged to submit supporting documentation that highlights experiences and accomplishments that may not be fully reflected through academic metrics alone.

Professional experience, leadership roles, healthcare certifications, military service, volunteer work, and significant life experiences can demonstrate qualities that contribute to success in nursing, including resilience, compassion, communication skills, and a commitment to serving others.

Examples of recommended supporting documentation include:

  • Healthcare Licensures & Certifications
    • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
    • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
    • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
    • Medical Assistant (MA)
    • Phlebotomy Certification
    • Other healthcare-related certifications or credentials
  • Military Service
    • DD-214 or other applicable military documentation
    • Military leadership, training, or healthcare experience
  • Professional, Service & Leadership Experience
    • Employment in healthcare or related fields
    • Leadership roles in work, school, military, or community organizations

Supporting documents provide applicants with an opportunity to present a more complete picture of their background and potential contributions to the nursing profession. Applicants may upload a one-page resume as part of the application process for consideration during holistic review.
