    GENERAL DESCRIPTION
    The RN/LVN performs standard nursing work and is responsible for ensuring that Texas School for the Deaf students receive appropriate health care and follow-up in accordance with accepted nursing and medical standards under the direction of a licensed physician.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

    • Graduation from an accredited nursing school and licensed to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse in the State of Texas (copy of license should be submitted with the application)
    • Computer skills to include word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, and EHR
    • Sign Language: The applicant does not need to have sign language skills at hire, but will be required to participate in sign language classes offered at TSD until reaching a level of INTERMEDIATE as evaluated on the Signed Communication Proficiency Interview.

    • Current RN License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
    • Current CPR certification.

    Job Description

    • Treatment of infants, children, and/or adolescents according to the active plan of care, as given by the physician and other appropriate personnel
    • Administration of prescribed medication, treatments, and therapies

    My 66 yo son in Austin Txs moved his disabled 90 yo dad & his disabled wife from Arizona to San Marcos Texas so he could help them. His dad’s Medicare insurance supplement plan does not seem to be adequately providing for their needs in San Marcos. According to my son, both dad & his wife are in need of help finding resources. My son works full-time remotely in addition to being the case manager for the family. He was spending weeks at a time in Arizona which was getting impossible to manage so he bought his dad a new house in San Marcos. I am trying to help my son locate services because the insurance company has not been helpful. I would like to locate an RN case manager to take over for my son but I have not been successful in my search. I live in California so I am helping from a distance.
